On January 4th, two cases were settled in Powder River County District Court.
Trenton Schaffer of Broadus pleaded guilty to misdemeanor Assault stemming from an incident which took place on May 4, 2018 at the Big Sky Bar in Broadus. During an altercation with a Jorey Giles, Trenton hit Giles with a Bud Lite beer bottle, causing a laceration over Giles’ eye.
Due to Schaffer’s lack of criminal history, the judge ordered him to pay $575 in fines, to undergo a chemical dependency evaluation, and also has a suspended 30-day sentence.
Walt Voegele of Broadus pleaded guilty to a 4th DUI, the offense occurring on May 20th, 2018, when Walt was pulled over at around 2 pm near the Cashway Café, and was found to be intoxicated. Voegele was ordered to pay $4360 in fines, and to attend a residential alcohol treatment program.
