In keeping with the bustle of the holidays, the Chamber board has been busy wrapping up the 2018 agenda. We appreciate everyone who attended our Building a Better Broadus networking evening in October, held at the PR Historical Museum. The event was well received and we hope to make it an annual gathering celebrating commitment and service to our community.
At the general membership meeting in November, reports were heard from the 4th of July Committee as plans are already forming for the big 2019 centennial celebration. Logos designed by Horizon Marketing Agency were introduced and after additional revision will be presented to the public. A “Welcome to Broadus” sign has been proposed and those interested in joining the planning committee should contact Jessica Malone.
Our final event for 2018 is the annual Christmas Stroll, held this Friday, November 30th. We are thankful to all those who enthusiastically contribute and participate and we hope to see you there! You’ll find details about the many activities in this edition of the Examiner and on our Facebook page.
As we approach 2019, changes are afoot, including some to our board. Our Executive Secretary Lori Stokes has generously stepped into the volunteer Secretary position, freeing up funds previously budgeted for wages. And as they step down from the board, we wish to thank Dave Barbero and Mary Alice Mangen for their contributions to our organization. Current officers for 2019 are Melissa Billing, President; Julie Collins, VP; Lori Stokes, Secretary; Jessica Malone, Treasurer; and Marni Gaskill & Rita Harden, Board Members. We have an open position on the executive board and invite anyone interested to contact us.
The membership drive for 2019 calendar year is underway and we encourage you to review our revised membership levels and benefits on our website. ( http://www.prchamberofcomm.com ) Advertising and marketing opportunities abound as we offer benefits such as Google Maps presence, Facebook ads, website review, and free profile management on the state tourism websites!
Wishing you a wonderful holiday season!
