Full Results from the Quarter Horse Show, Sale, & Futurity

By Marcy Davis

The Powder River Quarter Horse Breeders Association had a fantastic show, sale and futurity over the weekend of September 1st and 2nd. The weather was hot, but despite that we had a big turn-out of AQHA show Contestants, Futurity Contestants, Buyers’ & Spectators. As always it was fun to visit with old friends and make new ones.

On Saturday, PRQHBA hosted the “POWDER RIVER ROUNDUP” AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse show. This is the first year for this kind of show and we hope there will be many more to come. We had a great turnout for the show with contestants coming from Canada, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana. It was nice to see our local ranchers and cowboys entering to compete on their home turf. We had a lot of local supporters, donating cash prize money, portable panels, cattle for the show and a great team of volunteers to make this event happen. It takes a lot of hands to put on an AQHA event. Competition was competitive, and we had a great time and met some new people.

Our show personnel included: AQHA Judge, Margo Ball – Show Manager, Dean Johnson

Show Secretary, Hope Hall – Ring Stuart, Megan Scherting – Jeanie Hovermale & Gordon Schaffer working the cattle along with many volunteers.
