Lady Hawk Volleyball plays at home

"We had a good news/bad news week," Broadus Head Volleyball Coach Gordon Archer said of the Lady Hawks' last week of volleyball action. The bad news is that because a couple of players voluntarily ended their seasons early, which means Broadus is now below the threshold for a minimum number of players to play a JV and Varsity game. Thus for the rest of the season (and this past weekend vs Ekalaka), Broadus will only play a Varsity game.

The good news for the team is that Jadyn Traub will start practice again this week, and work her way back towards being able to play. Traub, a standout athlete for the team, injured her knee earlier in the season and at one point her season looked over. So Jadyn's recovery is a positive note, both for the team and for the young athlete's physical return to full health.

The Lady Hawks only played in one match last week, hosting a tough Ekalaka team which had just come off a tournament win in Scobey. "They beat everybody at Scobey, including twice beating Wibaux," Archer commented on their performance. "We expected them to do well against us."

The Lady Hawks played three sets against the Lady Bulldogs, falling 21-25, 18-25, and 15-25. "Overall, I was proud of how our girls played. They fought hard. Our 8th graders got some playing time in, and I'm proud of our performance."

The Lady Hawks are now 3-1 in conference play, putting them in solid shape thus far in the season. The majority of matches remaining will be conference matches. Homecoming matches this week will be against Northern Cheyenne this Tuesday, and St. Labre on Friday.
