St. Vincent De Paul's of Broadus has moved into their new facility at the old wool
mill building – located between Henry Malley Memorial Library and Seabeck Pizza.
The move, which came after nine years at the old location, came about because of
several reasons. The roof in the old building wasn't in great shape, which caused
some issues with water leakage. Additionally, St. V's was simply running out of
space. The new building provides double the square footage, which will make room for
more goodies, and more space to move between the racks.
The volunteers at St. V's, of which there are currently around 15-20, helped with
the move to the new building, and the racks are now stacked with a variety of
clothing and other goods.
Halloween costumes, Christmas decorations, hunting clothing, and winter coats are
currently featured items at the store, and volunteers at the store mentioned that
they are really in need of winter coats, especially in toddler sizes for donations.
Men's clothing, particularly workwear in decent shape, is another item of need.
The ladies at the store mentioned that they'd like folks to hold off on their summer
clothes donations until Spring, as storage space is still at a premium.
"We appreciate the donations, but don't have room for everything," Marty Copps
mentioned. Copps also noted that the store is always looking on the lookout for more
volunteers.
The phone is not yet hooked up at the new location, but the store is open and in
business.
