Melons, zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes, baked goods and more will be available at this week’s Farmer's Market. The Farmer’s Market takes place every Saturday through September, from 8:30 a.m. until noon, behind the CornerStore in Broadus.
“Mouth-watering home grown cantaloupe, freshly baked cinnamon rolls, fresh pesto, pickling cucumbers and Norman Turnbough’s beautiful gladiolas were all available last Saturday,” explained Alyson Ragsdale, co-organizer of the Saturday market. “We expect even more this Saturday,” she continued.
The Farmer’s Market is a great opportunity to buy the tastiest, freshest produce. If it doesn’t rain, Janet Rice continues to haul her fresh produce and heirloom tomatoes to town. Her zucchini bread sold out, and someone came specifically looking for her pickled white cucumbers.
This weekend, several new vendors plan to attend the Farmer’s Market including a crafter who plans to bring her homemade wooden signs. All booth space is free.
“It’s just a great chance to enjoy a cup coffee and visit with people from the community,” added Anne Amsden, co-organizer. For more information, contact the Powder River County Extension Office at 436-2424.
