Kenneth F Carter, age 90, of Broadus, MT passed away on August 07, 2018 at the Powder River Manor in Broadus.
Kenneth Franklin Carter was born at Coalwood on January 28, 1928 the son of Frank (Ted) and Margaret Weipert Carter. He attended grade school at Duck Creek in Powder River County and graduated High School in Miles City Montana. On September 14, 1949 Kenneth met the love of his life Dolores I Bone and shortly after the two were married in Broadus, MT. Kenneth went to work for the Mallett Cattle Company at Powderville, MT until Christmas time when they went to work for Jesse Harris on the LS on the west side of Pumpkin Creek from Volborg, MT. In August of 1950 a son Kenneth Nelson was born. The same year the family moved to Baker MT and worked for the Munsell Ranch. In April of 1952 their daughter Gail was born and in August of 1953 their third child Camilla was born. In 1954 Kenneth and the family moved back to Broadus and started trucking for A.J. Bone.
He purchased his own truck and later formed Powder River Trucking with Francis Taylor, Bud Shober, Keith Lancaster and John Denson. He hauled livestock and flatbed freight until he retired at age 70.
Kenneth & Dolores purchased a 5th wheel camper in 1993 and started going south in the winter. They made 2 trips to Alaska. They liked to travel and camp. In 2007 they stopped traveling due to Dolores's Alzheimer's. In March of 2015 he entered the Powder River Manor where he remained until his death.
Kenneth is survived by his three children, son Kenneth N. (Thelma) Carter of Hulett, WY, daughter Gail Ivester of Ashland, MT, daughter Camilla (David) Crockatt of Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren and his sisters Doris Gookin, and Bernice Carey his sister-in-law, Lela Bone. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dolores his brother Lloyd Carter. Son-in-law Butch Ivester and one granddaughter Kathy Ivester.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Broadus. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Broadus.
