Stevens’ wood carvings sell-out Calgary
Otter Creek-- “We left a little bit early, but attendance was so good that they were predicting it would reach over a million,” Keith Stevens said this week on returning home after showing his woodcarvings at the annual Calgary Stampede and Art Show in Canada.
Keith and his wife Doris were there several days, returning Tuesday night, on their annual trip to the Art Show, where Keith sold all ten of the wood carvings he exhibited.
Stevens’ specialty is bird carvings, and he is noted for the realistic portrayal of his subjects and their settings. “It was a sell-out,” he commented. “All in all, they were expecting a real successful Stampede.”
Keith stated that on the trip to Calgary they drove through some very drought-stricken areas, alternating with lush spots. They whole effect was very spotty.
“The weather at Calgary was just perfect,” he added.
Canada looked very beautiful and had lots of rain. A rain shower every evening of their stay at Calgary added to the comfortable weather.
