4th of July events draw a crowd

The 4th of July Parade, put on the by the Chamber of Commerce, and led by Grand Marshal Charlie Barbero was a very well attended event this year, with Pete Wenzel and Julie Collins providing MC duties and music from atop Bella Si Salon.

Parade winners included the following entries: Category Winners: Class - Class of '78; Youth - Biddle School; Business - Broadus Boot & Tack Overall: 1st - Biddle School; 2nd - Broadus Boot & Tack; 3rd - Class of '78, Honorable Mention: Jane's Antiques, VFW, CBS Pipelines, Quincy Bayo.

Andrea Janssen, Margie Riley, and Marty Thone judged the event, while Christopher Janssen lined up the floats and prepared the parade line-up.

Following the parade, the IGA hosted a rib fest, with succulent cow meat consumed by many, at the newly renovated Pocket Park.

A variety of activities took place at the park later in the day, including a slip and slide and horseshoe tournament, along with bingo at the community center.

A cornhole tournament took place the evening of the 4th, at the PR Stockman's club, with 12 teams competing. Two single elimination tournaments took place, with the duo of Brandon Schuetzle and Matt Zellers winning the first tourney over Kurt & Julie Collins, and Ray & Tedi Jo Williams winning the second tourney over Jerri & Marlin Cooper.

A fireworks show, courtesy of the Desatoffs and Hi-Tech Auto, rounded out the night from B-Hill.
