After spending the fall hunting season of 2017 without a local game warden, Powder River County welcomes FWP Warden Kyle Queer to the area.
Kyle initially moved to Broadus last winter, but was away for training through much of the winter and spring. Now, Kyle is ready to get to work, in the myriad tasks of which befall a game warden.
Kyle is a Butte native, graduating from High School in the Copper City in 2008, and continuing his college education at Montana Tech, where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology in 2012.
Knowing that he wanted to work in the outdoors, Kyle landed a job as a game warden in Ohio in 2014, where he worked until 2017, when he noticed a job opening with Montana FWP back home.
"Four years outside of Montana was long enough," the warden said of his decision to return to the Big Sky Country. "Hunting, fishing, and being outdoors is my passion, and my passion is my job."
Kyle's passion for the outdoors, as well as his previous experience as a warden in Ohio, will serve him well in his new post.
Meanwhile, Kyle has been spending time getting to know the area, and getting around to talk to the locals. "I have an open door policy, so if anyone has any questions or concerns, they can call me anytime." Kyle's work number is 406-853-7700. Those with information regarding game violations are encouraged to call Kyle, or the FWP's TIP-Mont number, at 1-800-847-6668.
When asked about his assignment to the Broadus area, Kyle commented: "I'm excited to be out here; they definitely didn't have to force me to take this assignment. I'm happy with the area and people, and looking forward to experiencing more of Southeastern Montana's outdoor opportunities."
