The Hawk football team traveled to Plentywood on Thursday, October 17th. Broadus drove the ball down the field and scored in the first quarter on a 12 yard pass from Jayce Schroeder to Logan Capp, missing the extra point attempt. Zeason Schaffer, 2024 Broadus Grad, was named last week as the Mon-Dak volleyball player of the week. The MCC freshman outside hitter helped her team go 4-0 in early October, with two conference wins. As a result of player injuries last week, Hawk football forfeited their game at Culbertson. The move came about as Broadus had several players coming off injuries and another coming off concussion protocol, meaning at best Broadus could make a full compliment of players on the field. Locals Compete At NILE in Billings Jake Lockwood of Volborg, profiled last week in Joe Kusek’s article in the Examiner, won the bull riding event at the NILE PRCA Rodeo in Billings on Friday. Jake won $1,992 and first place accolades by scoring an 83 on a bull named Little Hoot. Jake also won the NILE PRCA event last year. On Monday, the Broadus School Board unanimously voted to submit their intent to MHSA to move from an 8 man to 6 man football for next fall. The Montana High School Association handles reclassifications, and have a November 1st deadline for schools to opt up or opt down in their classification. Broadus currently sits just outside the enrollment number for 6 man football, which is 1-65 students. Broadus Hawk football hosted Wibaux last Friday, in a game which began early due to a power outage from a burned power pole near Colstrip. The power came back on fairly early in the game, making operation of the lights and score board an option.
