    The Broadus School Board Trustees met for their regular monthly meeting Monday, with Trustees Dawn Aye, Kristy Elgin, Waylon Billing, and Rob Jones in attendance, while Amanda Zimmer called in when agenda items came up for a vote. Trustees Dan Krantz, Jay Schroeder, and Shasta Madsen were absent.   • Junior High BPA Competes At Regionals In Baker

Attending the regional meet were 54 competitors from Custer, Baker, Hardin, Colstrip, Forsyth, and Plevna. The Broadus JH BPA competitors all placed high enough to qualify for state in at least one event, but can compete in up to three qualified events at state in Billings this March. There were a total of 127 High School BPA members from area schools including Baker, Colstrip, Forsyth, Plevna, Custer, and Hardin. St. Labre and Lodge Grass did not attend.     Five members of the Broadus FFA chapter went to Nationals in Indianapolis at the end of October, including Shelby Anderson, Jayce Schroeder. Archer Edwards, Becca Aye, and Raiden Aurand. Broadus rode the bus to and from the event with students from Miles City and Baker. MCC Pioneer basketball teams took on the Northwest College Trappers (Powell, WY) in some exciting basketball action.     By Broadus Schools Superintendent Jim Hansen At our August trustee meeting we discussed our increase in state guaranteed tax base dollars which contributed to our decrease in local taxes. The revenue responsible for our tax decrease was allocated from the 95 mills that is assessed to all state taxpayers. Many counties saw their taxable evaluations increase dramatically this year, and are choosing not to assess all of the 95 mills. They were obviously foreigners with broken English, but I eventually realized they wanted to borrow a jack to repair a tire. Living next to a gas station can have its drawbacks. The short meeting was followed by a training session for trustees, provided by School Law Attorney Elizabeth Kaleva of Missoula.
