  • Superintendent's Report

    May 13, 2021

By Broadus Schools Superintendent Jim Hansen I have often referred to the spring graduation ceremony as our “Super Bowl.” It is the main event that transpires after thirteen years of education filled with adversity and celebration as our youth make the difficult transition to adulthood. Thirteen years is a long time considering many youth struggle to wait thirteen seconds. In a society so focused on “immediate gratification,” it is easy to lose sight of the ultimate goal. The educational and often over-looked social tribulations student...

  • Weight Room Murals are Completed

    Apr 29, 2021

By Connie Barnhart A new visual attraction can be seen in the PRCDHS weight room. New murals were recently completed by art students. The new murals replaced an "underwater fish mural" that was created in 1995 by PRCDHS art students for the former student lounge. It was appreciated for many years until the room was remade into the current weight room. The calming underwater scene really wasn't conducive to "pumping up" in a weight room environment. Last year, students voted on new mural...

  • Superintendent's Report

    Apr 15, 2021

By Broadus Schools Superintendent Jim Hansen 4-12-2021 People have a way of making some things difficult. School finance certainly falls into one of those categories. Maybe government tries to confuse us so we don’t ask questions, or maybe the plan is to hire more people to interpret all the regulations. Well, this is my best attempt to briefly discuss your general fund budget and, to explain why we did not run a general fund levy this spring. Montana general fund budgets are composed of two sections: a Base and Over-Base. The Base budget is t...

  • Superintendent's Report

    Mar 11, 2021

By Broadus Schools Superintendent Jim Hansen As many of you know we will be losing four teachers at the conclusion of this school year. Attracting new educators has become extremely difficult in most rural communities. The Montana legislature has made an attempt to increase beginning teacher salaries with House Bill 143. Qualifying schools would receive an additional State payment if they agree to increase salaries during the first three years for beginning teachers. Beginning Broadus educators would be eligible for this increase. However,...
