8-14-2023 Once again, the summer has passed by very quickly and we are looking forward to the first day of school on Monday, August 14th. On Monday evening the Broadus School Board Trustees met for their monthly meeting. All members were present other than Jay Schroeder and Danny Krantz. The major agenda item was approval of the 2023-24 school budget. Broadus Schools Superintendent Jim Hansen described the budget as he went over major budget items on a large touch screen monitor with the board. Hansen commented “You’re in good shape. An open house will be held at Broadus Elementary at Thursday, August 10th, from 5-7 PM. During the open house, students will be able to tour the school, meet their teachers, and drop off school supplies. Additionally, Powder River Public Health, along with the Tobacco Prevention Program is donating a variety of school supplies to students. School board meetings involving annual updates to handbooks for staff and students are often long in duration, and the meeting Monday night to approve the handbooks for transportation, classified and certified staff, and students stayed true to form, lasting approximately three hours. The Broadus School Board Trustees met for their regular monthly meeting on Monday, May 8th. The results of the school calendar survey were discussed. 209 responses were returned to the school regarding the survey, which asked several questions regarding the modified 4 day school week for the 23-24 school year adopted by the board at the March meeting. 75.1% of those surveyed were in favor of the modified 4 day calendar, with 24.9% not in favor. 105 survey responses were from parents of Broadus School students, 25 were from school employees, 96...

Broadus Public Schools is conducting a survey to gauge interest in the proposed 2023-24 school calendar. The survey deals with the modified 4-day schedule adopted at the March meeting, and is available for all members of the community to fill out and submit. Biddle Elementary students invite you to learn about groundbreaking people from the past and present in their Living Wax Museum, at the Biddle Hall on April 26th. The event will take place from 4-5 PM, featuring four of the older Biddle Elementary students. Each student will dress and pose as their chosen famous person.
