  • High School Buzz-In System Now In Place

    Dec 12, 2024

On Monday, the Broadus High School debuted their new buzz-in door lock system, with your intrepid editor being the first visitor to enter through the system. The system is similar to that which has been in use at the elementary for years, where a visitor to the school during school hours goes up to the front door of the school, pushes a button on a camera system, and a staff member in the office unlocks the front door for the visitor to enter. At the high school, the “buzz box” is located to the left (north) of the left main entrance door, tha...

  • Superintendent's Report

    Dec 12, 2024

Warren Buffett, the Berkshire Hathaway CEO who was once the world’s wealthiest man, said he was going to, “Leave his children enough so that they could do anything, but not enough so that they could do nothing.” A full 99% of his wealth will be given to charity. Obviously, he didn’t want to spoil his kids and desired they work and experience some adversity. Unfortunately, during my educational career I have noticed a decrease in volunteerism, the ability of students to accept adversity, and less grit. We take for granted the experie...

  • Superintendent's Report

    Nov 14, 2024

November, 2024 My brother and I grew up with parents who were very successful and it was always encouraged or implied that we should strive to excel at whatever we do. This was true for how my father lived his life. Watching my father decline mentally and losing the ability to perform simple tasks has been difficult for me, but extremely frustrating for someone who always strived for perfection. As parents and educators, we should inspire our students to challenge themselves academically and socially. We should also encourage youth to...

  • Superintendent's Report

    Oct 24, 2024

Our state administrative association supplies me with daily educational articles. Recently, I read an article from a large Montana community newspaper who was investigating a parent claim that the school was suppling litter boxes for students to use in their bathrooms. Her online post stated that her friend and numerous students reported the use of cat litter boxes. The local news contacted the parent to verify the claim but she wouldn’t release the name of her source or the students. She then accused the school district of removing the b...

  • Hawk Homecoming Is Next Week

    Sep 26, 2024

Broadus Schools will celebrate Homecoming next week, from Sept. 30 to Oct. 4. Monday evening will be the coronation of Homecoming royalty, set for 7 pm at the high school. A bonfire of sorts will also be held on Monday evening. A newly updated bonfire system is set to be used, using propane instead of the cardboard box burning of yore. The propane setup is expected to present a safer option to prevent an out of control fire; especially important this year with burn bans in place for Powder River County, and following a rash of wildfires across...
