A cold late winter gave rise to a cool, dry early spring, as April showers failed to materialize across much of Powder River County. Broadus received a scant 0.13” of moisture in April, which made for the second driest April on record, only eclipsed by the 0.10” total in 1952. Child Find will conduct developmental screening for children ages 0-5yrs, and will take place Thursday, May 18th, 9-4 at the Community Center in Broadus. The students are assessed in the areas of motor skills, concepts (academic readiness), and language. Kyle Giacometto was apprehended on April 11th following a probation search of his property, located at 201 North Park in Broadus. Authorities found a rifle, crossbow, and compound bows at the scene, in violation of the orders of Giacometto’s parole. The parole stemmed from a felony burglary conviction from 2014. In early 1929, the Three Circle Roundup near Birney was underway. The range included the Forest Reserve near Poker Jim, where the Brown Cattle Company (owners of the Three Circle) held a large grazing permit.
