She had attended the Ashland Roundup with Fred Russell and had made a detour with him via Custer’s Battlefield on the return trip.     Spotty moisture and a hot spell during the latter stages of July were perhaps the major stories in regards to weather in July, as some areas of the county received heavy rainfall, while others received scant moisture. On July 24th the temperature reached 105 in Broadus, setting a new record daily high for that date. The previous record was 104, set in 2007. Beginning August 14th, M-Th (or all school days) adult swim will be from 1:45-3:30 p.m, with aerobics at 2 p.m. Then, open swim will be from 4-7 p.m. On weekends, open swim will be from 12:30-3:30 p.m, and 4-7 p.m. If these extended days are well attended, we will continue into September.     A late July heat wave, combined with lightning storms contributed to a rash of local fires over the past week. The Broadus Volunteer Fire Department responded to several fires over the week.
