By Senior Center Director Tammy Jackman What beautiful Fall weather we are having. We started off our October at the Senior Center with a beautiful activity as well and that was the Caregiver’s Respite Retreat. It is a great way to learn about self-care, while you are caring for others. There were 4 activities throughout the day with a fantastic lunch catered by Krista Gotfredson. O...

That means in essentially one week Broadus had a 92 degree swing in temperatures. November 2, 1923 Rowed Down Powder River in Quest of Honey Fred Durst landed at Broadus Tuesday afternoon after a nautical trip down the river from Moorhead, a road course of 46 miles but half again farther by water. Mr. Durst was five days in making the trip. A boat, 12 feet in length, was made at Moorhead especially for such a trip as was taking. Using this boat, Mr. Durst was hopeful of salvaging at least a portion of the honey that was lost in a recent flood. While discovering many of the hive bodies along the river’s banks, Mr. Durst w...

The Broadus Recycling Center has undergone some changes over the past several months, the most obvious of which is observed by a move from the city's white building, which has housed the center since it opened in December of 1991. The new location of the center is just next door, in the old tin fairbarn next to the park. The move comes about as a way to expand the facility, which had been cramped in the smaller building, according to Tracy Vail, Recycling Center Manager. The new facility allows...

They also learned that boiling water makes it safe to drink, and how to find a warm stop to stay if lost in the wilderness....
