This means that even if someone has an income that is higher than normal poverty guidelines, if their situation is such that they’re about to lose their heat or lights and they have no money in the bank to pay that bill, there is a g...

November 29, 1923 Federal Post Road - Belle Fourche to Broadus A federal post road from Belle Fourche, S.D. to Broadus, via Alzada, Piniele and Boyes appears as a strong possibility and such a project has been endorsed by the commercial clubs of Belle Fourche, Broadus and others. Such a road project is second in importance to a railroad, and would do much toward giving an outlet for the considerable tonnage that goes from this county, making it possible for farmers to find a market for their produce. Such a federal road project mentioned is a...

November 15, 1923 Bay Horse-Biddle Mail Route is not granted We are sorry to learn that the Bay Horse to Biddle mail route has not been granted. We understand that the reason given is that not enough people would be benefited. We know of twenty-five families who would have patronized the route regularly and four who would have used it occasionally. When it takes mail leaving Broadus sometimes two weeks to reach Bay Horse via Miles City, Billings, Sheridan, and Gillette, we feel that the route petitioned for to give direct connections is badly...

It is important to keep fire safety in mind when you are heating your home. Data from FEMA shows that from 2013-2015, an average of 45,900 home heating fires occurred in the US every year. Those fires caused an average of 205 deaths, 725 injuries, and $506 million in property loss, per year. If you are using a portable heater, make sure the heater has an...
