The extremely dry weather pattern throughout the winter took a bit of a break in March, as Broadus received precipitation in four separate instances throughout the month. Though the moisture average remained below normal, at 0.46” compared to a “normal” amount of 0.78”, the change in weather patterns is a welcome sign. On March 14th the Broadus Volunteers responded to a haystack fire north of Broadus. The fire was human caused, and was a total loss of 48 round round bales. The VFD prevented flying embers from spreading and causing further fire to the surroundings. March 28th 1924 Moving Picture Theater opens to a Packed House The Star Theater had its initial opening Saturday evening with an estimated 160 adults and children attending. The moving pictures were projected across the width of the Hall, thirty feet from the machine to the canvas curtain. The curtain measures 9 X 12 feet, with the size of the pictures, 7 x 10 feet. The annual Broadus Easter Egg Hunts are planned for Thursday, March 28th. Powder River Manor’s hunt for children aged 0 to Pre-K will take place at 11 AM.
