    The weather in May was hot and dry across much of Powder River County. Overall precipitation levels in 2020 have been exceptionally dry, with 3.33" of precipitation falling in Broadus from January 1st through June 1st. The normal precip for the first five months of the year is 5.81", so we're at around half of normal. The driest year on record for that period is 1988, with 2.76" from Jan 1 to Jun 1.     Here’s the status of coronavirus in Powder River County, as of June 2nd. Last week, fifty coronavirus tests were performed on Powder River Manor staff and residents, as part of the governor’s directive to test high risk populations. All tests came back negative. The Powder River Public Health office also tested three people over the last week as part of pre-procedure testing. Those tests also came back negative.     By Raymond Ragsdale, Broadus VFD Broadus Fire responded to a shop fire on May 5th at the John Stuver Ranch, which consumed a shop. The fire was caused by a generator, started during the planned power outage. The shop was a total loss.
