Maddie Brownfield holds her 4-H Cat "Adventure". In addition to the cat project, Maddie has been working on other projects, including sewing, cooking and photography. The weather in May was hot and dry across much of Powder River County. Overall precipitation levels in 2020 have been exceptionally dry, with 3.33" of precipitation falling in Broadus from January 1st through June 1st. Here’s the status of coronavirus in Powder River County, as of June 2nd. Last week, fifty coronavirus tests were performed on Powder River Manor staff and residents, as part of the governor’s directive to test high risk populations. All tests came back negative. The Powder River Public Health office also tested three people over the last week as part of pre-procedure testing. Those tests also came back negative. 4-H member Delaney Ruland and her favorite silkie chicken Diamond are good buddies. Diamond is a good sport about being packed around in a jacket, sitting on the trampoline and doesn't even mind getting a bath. By Raymond Ragsdale, Broadus VFD Broadus Fire responded to a shop fire on May 5th at the John Stuver Ranch, which consumed a shop. The fire was caused by a generator, started during the planned power outage. The shop was a total loss. Carey Trumps, Raymond Ragsdale, Dixie Mitchell, Clint Pedersen, Chase Talcott, Donna Wilson, and Cass Zimmer responded quickly to the fire and helped save nearby structures and equipment.
