  • Boyes Cemetery Undergoes a Facelift

    May 29, 2020

By Slug & Poppy Mills The town of Boyes was established by John & Claude Bruce in 1911. Soon after, it was a bustling community with many homesteaders and businesses. John Bruce donated the ground for a cemetery in 1914 with the death of a traveler’s baby. Then, John was the first grown person to be buried there in 1915. It was not until 1931 when the new highway was surveyed 3 miles south that the cemetery was surveyed and platted. At this time, the Bruce Cemetery Assn. was formed. Through the efforts of fundraisers in 1931 a fence was put in...

  • Election Connection

    May 14, 2020

Remember to vote just 1 Ballot in the Primary Election. Due to the change from poll election to mail ballot election there has been some confusion regarding the unvoted ballots. Typically, in a poll election, you would be handed your party ballots, one each; Republican, Democrat, and Green. You would then pick the ballot you wish to vote, return your voted ballot to the Voted Ballot Box, and drop the unvoted ballots into the Unvoted Ballot Box. In this mail ballot election, all that is needed is to return your voted ballot in your secrecy...

Jerry also tells us that the Spring 2020 Driver’s Ed students will begin to drive after June 1. The state and local school board have cleared the program to proceed, with several stipulations in p...
