By Jackie Beardsley Walking into the large white community center can mean an open and echoing experience, but not during the Powder River County Fair. Powder River County open class competitors bring their best and light up the walls with their art, photography and quilts, while food items, crafts and gardening fill the tables. The County Agent heard from a few fairgoers concerned with the earliness of fair impacting the gardening area, and although the vegetable competition may have been a...

These kids and horses earned every award received on a day that felt like a convection oven. Horse Show superintendents Megan Smith and Liz Barbour kept the show going with the help of Alexis Gotfredson and...

By Senior Center Director Tammy Jackman Holy Jalapenos has it been hot or what? Was sure thinking of the animals and kids during fair. A handful of us went down and had lunch from the VFW booth, then took a look around at all the exhibits. It is always fun to see what people have been doing with their time. We had a couple of fun trips in July, the first was Shakespeare in the Park at Poker Jim Lookout. It was a beautiful night; we took a pitch in supper and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The play that evening was A Winter’s Tale and the t...
