January 16, 1925 Home Hangs on Chasm Edge Butte – Mr. and Mrs. P.F. Rutledge and their three small children had a narrow escape when the surface of a lot next to their home caved in, leaving the house balancing on a rim of a chasm 50 feet across and several hundred feet deep. Two new road weather information systems (RWIS) are now operational in the local area, providing nearly real-time data for those looking to hit the roads. Those new sites are at Highway 212 at Home Creek Divide, west of Broadus, and at Coalwood, north of Broadus on Hwy 59.
