    In comparison to stations around the greater SE Montana and Northern Wyoming area, Broadus fell approximately in the middle when it came to precipitation in April. Precipitation hugged the Bighorn Mountains, dumping snow at higher elevations and contributed to a 2.60” April precip total in Sheridan, which is 1.00” above normal. In contrast, Miles City received 0.36” of moisture in April, which was 1.01” behind normal. Broadus had 1.15” of precip in April, which was 0.49” below normal.   • Range poised to expand fiber access to Northern PR County

    Those driving through Broadus this spring may have noticed the large reels packed with orange cable near the FWP building along Hwy 212. These reels hold fiber optic cable, which area telecommunications provider Range is planning to install in the northern reaches of Powder River County to enhance internet speeds to area customers. The official national Arbor Day was April 30 and that day was also declared Arbor Day in Broadus by Mayor Lyman Amsden. However, there was no school that day, so the celebration was postponed. Broadus Elementary School is co-sponsoring the event. The celebration will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the elementary gym. Mayor Amsden will read the proclamation, followed by readings by the students.     The 39th annual Boyes Italian Dinner has been rescheduled for Sunday, June 6th, at 1 PM. The Italian Dinner is normally held on or near Valentine’s Day, but this year the dinner was postponed due to the extreme cold, with the mercury dipping to -33 at Broadus on February 14th. All are cordially invited to this all you can eat buffet, which features authentic, traditional Italian dishes. Cost for ages 12 & up is $15, ages 6 to 10 is $10, and those age 6 and under eat free.
