Though John Wilson may be the "new" minister at the Assembly of God church in Broadus, he is not new to the congregation, nor is he new to Southeastern Montana. Last Saturday evening, a fire erupted at the historic Club Buffet in Ashland. Sources tell us that a grease fire erupted in the kitchen early in the evening, and though Ashland VFD members were on scene quickly to douse the flames, the structure was fully consumed and appears to be a total loss. May 13, 1921 56 trees set out in Courthouse Square Another attempt is being made this year to beautify the courthouse square by planting out 56 young cottonwood trees, 14 to a side. The experiment last year met with failure as every one of the trees died before fall. A different procedure of planting trees and irrigating them was adopted this year and it is hoped they will respond. In comparison to stations around the greater SE Montana and Northern Wyoming area, Broadus fell approximately in the middle when it came to precipitation in April. Precipitation hugged the Bighorn Mountains, dumping snow at higher elevations and contributed to a 2.60” April precip total in Sheridan, which is 1.00” above normal. The official national Arbor Day was April 30 and that day was also declared Arbor Day in Broadus by Mayor Lyman Amsden. However, there was no school that day, so the celebration was postponed. The 39th annual Boyes Italian Dinner has been rescheduled for Sunday, June 6th, at 1 PM.
