April 22, 1921 W Bar Ranch has bad fire Thirty dressed hogs, ten thousand pounds of corn, besides other feeds and many miscellaneous articles, were destroyed in a fire Sunday evening at the W Bar ranch, owned by Link J. In the 8-week Steps for Charity Challenge, it was Jackie Walden, Peggy Kolka, Lori Dinstel and Louise Wilson, The New "40", who came in first with 3.3 million steps. The Broadus Cancer Fund was the charity they chose to receive their $270 award for winning first place. Wilson had a goal of 1 million steps and WALKED extra to get it done. The hulking skeleton of a semi lies along Highway 212 near the pumping station between Hammond and Alzada, in the picture below taken last week. Reports indicated a blown tire started the fire, which then consumed the truck and trailer along with four acres of pastureland before the flames were stopped by the Alzada Volunteer Fire Deparment and local ranchers. COLSTRIP, MONT. – The Glendive District Bridge Preservation Project will evaluate 11 bridges in southeastern Montana for rehabilitation, impacting a state highway (S 39), US highways (US 212 and US 12), the interstate (I 94), and the communities of Forsyth, Colstrip, Lame Deer, Broadus, Ashland, and the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation.
