    The Broadus Junior High and High School Band and Choirs performed their Christmas Concert, last Tuesday in the High School Auditorium. Lisa Lynch and Lisa Gaskill provided direction and musical accompaniment for the evening, and with the student's musical talents, put on a lovely show for the community.   • Semi crashes into building at Boyes

    For the second time in less than a month, a semi-truck managed to find its way into the side of a building. The first wreck, which was reported on in last week's paper, happened at Belle Creek. The most recent wreck occurred last week, along Highway 212, at Boyes. A semi carrying oil field pipe was headed west on Hwy 212, and planned to turn left onto the Belle Creek road, at Boyes.     While the National Finals Rodeo was taking place in Las Vegas, the Junior National Finals Rodeo was also being held, allowing the future stars of rodeo an opportunity to compete just minutes away from their older brethren.   • School Board discusses vaping during monthly meeting

    The Broadus School Board met Monday night for their December meeting. During the Hearing of the Public, the Examiner asked about what is being done to handle vaping in the school system. Reports from the community (as well as the court report) have indicated that a large percentage of school age children are vaping, which is apparently the “cool” new way for kids to get addicted to nicotine (though in older circles vaping is considered uber lame).     Broadus Hawk Wrestling competed in their second tournament of the year in Forsyth, last Friday and Saturday. The Forsyth Tournament began on Friday with a round robin format, which meant all wrestlers would compete in several matches, and the winners would be seated for the Saturday tournament. Broadus Head Wrestling Coach Frankie Schoonover noted that the team went 12-22 on Friday, and the Friday tournament also gave the guys a chance to see what they were up against on Saturday.     The Broadus Hawks and Lady Hawks traveled to the Lewistown Tournament this past weekend, for their first games of the season. The first Varsity Boys game, originally scheduled for December 1 against Jordan, was postponed until January 15th due to poor winter weather.     Montana FWP Test results from CWD surveillance samples taken during the last week of Montana’s general hunting season showed nine more deer to be suspect of chronic wasting disease. South of Billings in Carbon County, two mule deer — a buck and a doe — and a white-tailed buck from CWD-positive areas showed suspect for the disease.
