The Lady Hawk Volleyball season came to an end at the Class C Eastern Divisional Tournament in Culbertson, last Friday. Letter to the Editor: Veteran’s Day brings back a lot of memories of the older vets I knew when I was a young child. It seemed like they were old men. However, in years many of them may not have been 60 years old. These vets had seen service in WWI (the Great War to End all Wars). They had seen a lot of action and very bad things happening. By Kim Blain This week, BHS' Zoe Page (pictured above) received a scholarship to the International Music Camp at the International Peace Gardens in Dunseith, North Dakota next summer. The scholarship is in memory of former BHS student, Allen Sickles, a 1971 graduate. Sickles' sister, Dr. Caryl Semmler, said her brother loved being in band in high school and wanted to honor his memory by providing an opportunity for a Broadus student to advance their musical ability. Allen Sickles, 69, died Sept. 13, 2022 after some time in ill health. Allen was born Nov. 13, 1952 to Elna Kohlstedt Sickles Linville and Hardie Sickles in Billings, Montana. He grew up in Broadus, Montana, graduating from Powder River County District High School in 1971. He went through 12 years of school, never missing a day, not a single absence.
