The Broadus Recycling Center has undergone some changes over the past several months, the most obvious of which is observed by a move from the city's white building, which has housed the center since it opened in December of 1991. The new location of the center is just next door, in the old tin fairbarn next to the park. The troop was led by Russ Kinzer, who taught the girls how to start fires with steel wool and a 9 volt battery. Kinzer also showed the troop how to track the sun across the sky, read time with a self-made sundial, and how to use the sun for heat. They also learned that boiling water makes it safe to drink, and how to find a warm stop to stay if lost in the wilderness....
The United States Postal Service filed notice with the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) of mailing services price changes to take effect Jan. 21, 2024. The new rates include a 2-cent increase in the price of a First-Class Mail Forever stamp, from 66 cents to 68 cents. Broadus Lady Hawk volleyball finished off their regular season on Saturday with a win against Terry, sealing second place in the district for the season. The Lady Hawks also beat Ekalaka Thursday in three straight sets. During the match against Ekalaka, Ciara McDowell came out during the third set to serve, with Broadus down by several points. Duane Curtis Sandine passed away at his home in Alzada, MT on October 5th, 2023 at the age of 59. Duane was born to Veryl and Loretta Sandine on December 10th, 1964. Duane grew up in Wasta, SD and Broadus, MT. Over the years he worked driving semi-trucks with his dad, working on their ranch in Broadus, and operated heavy equipment.
