The Montana University System held a "Research Roadshow" last Friday in Broadus. The Roadshow, which was part of a tour held in 25 towns across Montana, featured six college professors, associate professors, or grad students from schools across the state. Our three competitors came in ninth out of 20 complete teams competing in the girls' Class C division. The Broadus Lady Hawk Volleyball Team closed out their regular season last week with a couple of tough losses, against St. Labre and Wibaux. Despite the losses, Broadus remained in third place in the District, which puts them in good position going into tournaments, beginning this Thursday in Glendive. The Broadus Hawks football team and coaching staff made the long journey to Scobey last Wednesday, to play in their final regular season game. The winner of the game would move on to playoffs, the losers would go home to nurse their injuries and train for next year. Broadus VFW Post 1595 has been expanding its numbers, with a 21% increase in membership over the last year, according to Post Commander Mike Richards. That makes the Broadus post the largest growing post, by percentage, in the state of Montana for 2018. With that distinction, the Broadus post is set to become an “All State” Post, a distinction which was last held in 1988, according to Richard’s research. Faith Bible Church in Broadus will once again offer fun for kids next Wednesday, October 31st from 6 – 8 pm. We will have a variety of games in our gym. Games in past years included Skeeball, Target shooting, Ring Toss, Penny Drop, Goodie-Fishing, Rope Ladder and Popcorn Ball Walk. We’ll even have a few outside games if it isn’t too chilly. The Mizpah Masters held our first meeting October 1, 2018 at the fire hall. The 4-H group discussed new business and old business then elected officers for the new year. Wesley Glenn Wetherelt, age 67, died peacefully at home Tuesday, October 9, 2018, surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren. Leukemia may have called the shots, but Wes was in control of how he finished his life; rich with love and laugher. Firstborn of four children to Glenn and Hazel, he lived on the family ranch until he left home to attend college in Billings. Peggy Deibel Jones passed away on October 17, 2018 at the age of 78. Peggy Ann Stewart was born to Anna Le and Pete Stewart on July 8, 1940 in Glasgow, Montana. She was later joined by brother Lyle. She graduated from Malta High School where she was involved in band, chorus, and FHA. After high school she attended Montana State College in Bozeman, Montana. It was there she earned her RN Degree.
