By Dave Gardner I have had the best of intentions of adding to the previous article about Building a Better Broadus, but life seems to get in the way! The summer and fall have been very busy for all of us, and taking a few minutes to reflect on what has kept us “running” is gratifying. By Jessica Malone Fall is an awfully short season around here and if the blustery weather has you ready to curl up with a good book, then check out the Building a Better Broadus Book Club. The group, led by Melissa Billing, meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30pm at the office of Gardner & Billing CPAs. We’ll be reading “Dare to Lead” by Brene Brown, but this isn’t a run-of-the-mill book club because surprisingly, you don’t even need to read it to participate. The book is merely a stepping stone to help us inspire discussio...
A column on local history, researched and written by Shane Dunning. Shane may be reached at [email protected]. An underappreciated aspect of western history has been the contribution of artists. Cassilly Adams' "Custer's Last Fight", reprinted by the Anheuser Busch company and distributed to saloons and bars all over the country, represents one of the most iconic and recognized images of that historic fight. Artists have also impacted our understanding of "ordinary" western life by...

Pull drain plugs and make sure all compartments, bilges and ballasts are dra...
