The Hawk Varsity Football team took the field Saturday for a Homecoming game against Plentywood. The cool conditions on game day made for good playing weather, but meant fans needed to bring a bit of extra insulation. The Powder River Trails club organized a pop-up demonstration project in downtown Broadus last week. The project included curb extensions and crosswalks designed to calm traffic and make crossing streets safer and more accessible for all ages and abilities. Hay bales were also decorated to celebrate Broadus Hawks' Homecoming and decorate the curb extensions. Community feedback is important to the project. “Real Colors” will kick off the first Annie’s Project on Monday, November 5th, according to Extension Agent Mary Rumph. Custer County Extension Agent Tara Andrews will lead the first workshop at the 6-week series designed to empower women in agriculture. The Broadus Lady Hawk Volleyball team played two matches last week. On Tuesday, Broadus hosted Northern Cheyenne (Busby) for a record-breaking performance. Broadus Head Coach Gordon Archer said that Kiarah Coulter had 20 aces, which he was fairly certain would be a new school individual record. The results for the District team of Bailey Smith, Tayden Gee, Maclain Cathey, and Kortny Cathey placed first with Bailey placing first individually, Tayden third, and Maclain fourth.
