Earlier this month the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) put up new speed limit signs on Hwy 212 through Broadus, reducing the speed limit on the highway corridor through Broadus, while also reducing speeds coming into Broadus from east and west. With the close of the Powder River Historical Museum’s summer season, the museum will hold a volunteer day this Sunday, September 18th from 1-3 pm, followed by the fall board meeting and volunteer appreciation at 3 pm. Edit 9/22/22: Game stats added. The Hawk football team advanced to 2-1 on the season by beating Lodge Grass on Saturday, with a score of 50-22. The game was originally scheduled for Friday but rescheduled to Saturday due to not being able to find refs for the initial Friday schedule. The Lady Hawk volleyball squad won two more matches over the weekend, improving their conference record to 5-0. On Friday Broadus hosted Wibaux, with the Lady Longhorns surprising the Lady Hawks by coming out strong. The Broadus team recovered quickly and was able to take the first set 25-16, and continued to dominate through the second set with a score of 25-14, even with Broadus trying a different rotation to gain more experience for some younger players. Joey Williams of Volborg recently won the breakaway roping event at Ellensburg, Washington, bringing home over $7,000 in winnings, setting the arena record during her runs. The Ellensburg Rodeo has been held every Labor Day weekend since 1922. Williams is currently ranked number eight in the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association World Standings in breakaway roping.
