Projects slated for the coming year include plans to crush and haul $1 million dollars worth of gravel for the county roads. Other major roadwork include a continuation of the EDA bridge projects, with work being done on Pilgrim Creek and Horse Creek bridges t...

Recently a group of travelers were at the gas station with a vehicle issue. They were obviously foreigners with broken English, but I eventually realized they wanted to borrow a jack to repair a tire. Living next to a gas station can have its drawbacks. Like many of you I can have preconceived perceptions of strangers, especially those who are more than likely from another country. Reluctantly, I agreed to loan them my floor jack and my wife complemented me for my good deed. Later that evening the gas station contacted me to complain about the...

The Broadus Lady Hawk volleyball team continues to win, as they took conference matches at Ekalaka and at home against Forsyth over the weekend. Broadus lost one set in each match, winning in four sets against the Lady Bulldogs and the Lady Dogies. Broadus Head Coach Monica Smith told us that the single set losses were in part to Broadus losing focus, but after regrouping the team and being coach to "raise the level of play", they came out firing on all cylinders and won the matches. Sophomore G...

Broadus raced against a number of South Dakota and Wyoming teams such as Belle Fourche, Spearfish, Hulett and Newcastle at the Belle Fourche Invitational Cross Country Meet, held Thursday, September 7th. The deceptively hilly race was run at the golf course, with runners telling Coach Ashley Emmons that they’d rather go back to run the steep heights of Gas Cap Hill at the Hardin race than face the long, nearly constant hills in Belle Fourche. Despite the hilly course, Broadus performed quite well in relation to similar sized schools. The B...
Hawk football fell 75-8 to the state number 1 ranked Fairview Warriors, last weekend in Fairview. Fairview scored 7 more in the second quarter then coasted, as Broadus put up 51 yards of total offense. We spoke with Broadus Head Coach Brett...
UM News Service MISSOULA – University of Montana researchers have found that 17% of U.S. toddlers start, but do not complete, common and recommended vaccine series. UM’s Alexandria Albers, Sarah Michels and Sophia Newcomer published their findings in Pediatrics this summer, highlighting the primary cause of not completing a vaccine series is due to logistical barriers and not vaccine hesitancy. When publishing the study, the researchers urged action to address this public health shortcoming. “For most vaccines, children need three or four...

By MT FWP Destination: SOUTHEAST MONTANA The area is coming out of a few tough years of drought, but so far this year the area has received ample moisture across a majority of the region. This has resulted in better grass and forb growth, which has equated to much better habitat conditions compared to previous years. Once again, the region had a lot of grasshoppers, as well. With good habitat and forage options across the landscape, birds will be spread throughout the country, and hunters may have to travel around. This may give the illusion t...
