    The Broadus Lady Hawk Volleyball team played an excellent match last week, as they hosted Circle. With two varsity players out with injuries – Jadyn Traub and Brooke Burley, the Lady Hawks had to rely on some younger help, and help they did, as 8th grader Lauryn Billing went 14-14 on serves, with 3 aces, while Freshman Lacey Robinson went 10/10 with 2 aces.     Broadus VFD responds to fires in September The Broadus Volunteer Fire Department responded to several fires over the past week. On September 5th, 3 trucks responded to and helped douse a 5 acre fire at Gnerers on Crow Creek. The cause of the fire was reported as an ATV backfire.On September 7, two Broadus units responded to a large lightning caused fire at Ostendorfs, approximately 42 miles Southeast of Miles City.     The School Board met this Monday, with the majority of the business involved with the hiring of individuals for positions within the school. Rich Biescheuvel was hired for the Assistant Maintenance position. Mike Richards was hired as the Study Hall Supervisor, as well as Junior High Basketball Coach. The loving care provided by the Manor staff filled his time there with smiles and good memories.     The Powder River County Commissioners finalized the 2018-19 County Budgets recently. The budget cuts which some departments felt last year weren't as much of an issue for this year's budget cycle, with the overall budget actually increasing over half a million dollars.
