    The 2024-25 Powder River County budget was finalized, with the entire county budget going down due to completion of large ticket items such as the Little Powder Bridge. One major point to note is federal funding providing a 1 million dollar windfall for the county, through ARPA funding, a stimulus bill passed in 2021. Those funds have been set to be used for some major upgrades, such as an updated 911 system called “Central Square”, which is funded for $150,000.     The 2024 Juried Traveling Art Exhibit from the Waterworks Art Museum in Miles City will be on display at the Henry A. Malley Memorial Library thru October 10th. The theme of the year's show is "The Myth of Beauty". This years juror was Miles City artist, Carolyn Zimmerman. She judged nearly 60 artworks by 42 artists, taking considerations like composition, form, color, and innovative interpretation into account when choosing prize recipients.     The Broadus cross country team ran in their first competition of the season last Friday at the Hardin Invitational. That course is near Crow Agency, and is a challenging run featuring a steep hill and open terrain with little shade, making for a tough run when the temperature climbs to around 90 degrees, as it did the day of the competition.     Hawk football played their second game of the year, hosting the Ekalaka Bulldogs on a lovely Friday evening. The Hawks scored on a QB keeper in the first quarter, as Jayce Schroeder ran 40 yards for a touchdown. The two-point conversion was no good.     By Tom Herzog There will be a new look for Wednesday Night Youth interested in faith starting on September 18th. The new format will first separate High School and Jr High students. Both groups will start at 6:00 pm and hope to conclude close to 8 pm. The high-schoolers will meet at Faith Bible Church led by a variety of folks from that church.     The Lady Hawk volleyball team played their first conference regular season full length matches over the weekend, traveling down the Powder River watershed, on to the Yellowstone to Savage on Friday, losing 0-3. The team then hosted the Wibaux Lady Longhorns on Saturday, for the first home match of the season, with Broadus winning 3-0.
