The weather in Broadus was fairly normal for the month of August, and things wouldn’t look so bleak going into fall if not for the dry spring and early summer which created extreme drought conditions across Montana and much of the Northern Great Plains. Broadus hit 103 on August 16th, a record high for that date. The coldest temp recorded in Broadus last month was 44, on August 29th. The average high for the month was 91.3, or 1.7 degrees above normal, while the nights tended to cool off nicely – the average low of 56.1 matched the average low...
The Lady Hawk Cross Country team headed west last Friday to compete in the Hardin Invitational Cross Country Run, held outside of Crow Agency. The course features the notoriously tough Gas Cap Hill, featuring a steep section which leaves runners winded, before a long downhill where they are able to make up time, in a strong contrast to many CC courses, such as the race last week in Billings that was run on a perfectly flat course. Broadus Cross Country Coach Ashley Emmons told us that Gas Cap Hill serves as a good test for the runners in terms...
