    September 7, 1923 Bill Ramer Paralyzed by Fall; Crawls Half a Mile Bill Ramer, residing in the Coalwood country fell from his horse Monday afternoon, sustaining bruises to his back that caused a paralysis to his lower limbs. He was alone at the time and to find aid he adopted the only course, that of crawling almost inch by inch half a mile to the county road.     Area weather was fairly typical for August, with several days topping 100 degrees, intermixed by occasional rain showers. August is normally the fifth wettest month for Broadus, following May, June, April, then July. This year Broadus received .83”, compared to an average of 1.28”. 100 degree temps were reached on three days, including a 102 high on August 22nd which turned out to be a record high for that date.     The Broadus Lady Hawks won their first two regular full length matches last week, as they took on Savage at home and Wibaux on the road. Broadus went 25-18, 25-16, and 30-28 in a thrilling final set that had Broadus down 4 to 11 early before coming back and winning the match.
