    The Powder River County Commissioners set the County’s Preliminary Budgets on Monday. At this meeting, it was noted that Oil & Gas revenues, as well as Federal Mineral Royalties, and State Entitlements are up from last year. What this means is that levies will remain the same as last year – a nice change after last year when some budgets were cut and taxpayers were worried their taxes would increase.     Broadus enjoyed a special treat last weekend, hosting not one but two football games. On Friday, PRCDHS handily rounded up the Forsyth Dogies 30-0, while on Saturday, the town of Broadus played host to a 6-man football game pitting Westby-Grenora (or Mondak) against Kaycee, Wyoming.     The Broadus Hawk High School football team kicked off their first game of the season at home last Friday, playing perennial rival Forsyth. Last year, Forsyth dropped down to 8-man, and were a tough team to beat, going on to play in the state championship game, where they lost to Drummond-Philipsburg.     The Powder River Historical Society will be holding a regular business meeting at 3 p.m. on Friday, August 31st, at the museum. Members and friends are encouraged to attend. We have a beautiful quilt on display in the museum. This “log cabin version” quilt was sewn by members of the Stitch and Chatter Club on treadle machines belonging to Phyllis Wilson.     The Broadus Junior Bowling League wrapped up their season with awards won at State Jr. Bowling in Billings. We're very proud of our 4 bowlers: Kole Hand, Luke Herzog, Gracie Barbero and Layla Preite. As a team, Broadus finished 5th overall in a field of 156 teams. In singles, Layla finished 3rd overall.
