Classes will be offered at 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays each week. Classes include a health education component and range of motion, strength building and cardio exercises. At the monthly school board meeting held last Monday, the Board discussed the school budgets for the upcoming school year. Take steps to avoid mosquito bites, state health officials say State and local public health officials are reporting the season’s first West Nile Virus (WNV) detections with three counties confirming positive mosquito samples. Cascade, Sheridan and Yellowstone counties have all had a positive mosquito sample for WNV. To date, no cases of WNV have been identified in a human but the detection of WNV in Montana is a reminder of the importance of avoiding mosquito bites. Thursday, August 24, 1989 Shep Vail, companions climb Devil’s Tower Shep Vail of Broadus and three companions from the Medicine Mountain Scout Ranch were successful in a recent climb up Devil’s Tower in Wyoming. Vail, son of Steve and Betty Vail of Broadus, was accompanied by Chris Stover, Mike Lilygren and Scott Malone. The four young men used technical rock-climbing methods to conquer the Tower. Jess Lockwood went three for three on bulls to earn 460 Professional Bull Riding world standing points, in a win last weekend in Houston, Texas. The Volborg native is in first place in the world, leading number two rider Chase Outlaw by 320 points. Lockwood’s three rides were scored 85.25, 85.5, and 88.75 points. Our Savior’s Lutheran-ELCA will be holding a “Blessing of the Backpacks” for area youth, this Sunday. Backpacks and school supplies remind us that school has begun for students of all ages. Children begin preschool and kindergarten; others are moving up in elementary grades. Youth are moving to middle school and high school.
