The US drought monitor places a large portion of Powder River County in the D2 or Severe Drought category, the area roughly corresponding to the land which falls between the Powder River and Little Powder drainages. Melissa Ashley from Forsyth was the winner of the Powder River Working Horse Show, held last Thursday in Broadus. East Fork Roping Club's Ranch Rodeo capped off the Powder River County Fair on Friday night. Twelve teams from around the region gathered to compete in events that are designed to test the cowboy's skills in areas of every day ranch life.
