    An investigation into the murder of "Wavy Bill" Bronchus was held Saturday evening by 61 investigators, at the Powder River Historical Museum in Broadus. The murder and ensuing capture of the perpetrator, Abbie Oakley, was all part of an elaborately orchestrated event – the "Saga in the Sagebrush" Murder Mystery, held as a fundraiser for the museum.     A case against the Powder River County Commissioners was recently settled, resulting in Powder River County Justice of the Peace Cathy Landa’s position being restored to full-time salary, and the Justice of the Peace office hours restored to full-time. The case came about after a resolution made by the County Commissioners in September, 2017, which reduced the Justice of the Peace position from full time to 24 hours per week, and three fifths salary, effective Janurary 1, 2019.     Signup opened July 29, 2019 for the Market Facilitation Program (MFP), a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) program to assist farmers who continue to suffer from damages because of unjustified trade retaliation from foreign nations. Through MFP, USDA will provide up to $14.5 billion in direct payments to impacted producers, part of a broader trade relief package announced in late July. The sign-up period runs through Dec. 6.     Local cowboy Jason Schaffer recently competed in the Tie Down Roping at the Daddy of 'Em All - Cheyenne Frontier Days, July 20-28, 2019. The newly adopted set up this year was a tournament style.
