    A new deputy has donned the badge at the Powder River County Sheriff's Department. Tomasa Pacheco comes to the department after 31 years in the nursing field, having first worked in Broadus as a traveling Certified Nurses Aide in 1995. During that period, Tomasa traveled all around the state, and has recently worked at the Manor in her CNA role, where she reportedly did an amazing job with the residents.   • Incidents Keep First Responders Busy

    A wreck and several small fires kept local emergency personnel busy over the past week. A wreck involving a car and semi near mile marker 119 on Highway 212, approximately 10.5 miles east of Hammond resulted in one death, and one person transported to South Dakota with injuries. The Broadus VFD and First Responders responded to the incident, as well as Alzada Fire personnel and personnel from Belle Fourche, SD.     TRECO held their 73rd annual meeting last Saturday in Broadus at the Community Center. The meeting was preceded by a meal served to well over 100 TRECO members, featuring chicken and beef prepared by Jeff Ryan along with sides by Tracy Vail.
