With low amounts of precipitation and hot temperatures, June of 2021 pushed the majority of Powder River County into a severe drought, as measured by US Drought Monitor. The 0.58” of rain which fell in Broadus in June made for the third driest June on record, with the record low of 0.40” in June of 2004, and 0.50” in 2006.
