Overall, 74 people walked or biked the 1-mile, 3-mile or 5 -mile races. Biking was a new option for participants up for some physical activity to celebrate the 4th of July. The theme is “4-H: Making Our Best Better”; we hope to see the best of Powder River County Fair entries in both open class and the 4-H contests. Contact the Extension Office by July 22nd to enter a booth in the competition for the best decorated theme booth. Youth and adult categories sponsored by the Fairboard. "United We Stand" was the 2024 theme for the 4th of July celebrations in Broadus. The theme was fitting, as a large crowd of community members gathered for the events on the 4th and throughout the weekend. The grand marshals for the parade on the 4th were Dave & Pat (posthumously) and Tyler & Kelli Gardner, representing the Broadus Cancer Fund. Over the ensuing years, three have passed away. 24 of the remaining 37 classmates/friends gathered in Broadus for their 40-year class reunion over the long 4th of July holiday. MILES CITY – The 2024 paddlefish season for the yellow tag area of the Yellowstone and lower Missouri rivers ended June 30, short of the harvest cap of 1,000 fish. The overall harvest estimate was 782 paddlefish, and female paddlefish represented 43 percent of the total harvest. July 11, 1924 1,000 People Attend Otter Celebration The Fourth of July celebration held at Lem Barker’s store on Otter Creek was attended by a crowd of people estimated at 1,000 in number, most of them driving in automobiles that crowded the parking reservation to its capacity. The number of people was double that of the celebration last year, with Broadus, Ashland, Otter, Sayle, Quietus, Birney, Decker, Sheridan and other places sending large delegations.
