  • Ashland Public Breaks Ground On Addition

    On June 19th, a groundbreaking ceremony was held at Ashland Public School for construction on the school's updated kitchen. Leading the event was McGough Construction, a Minneapolis based construction firm with regional headquarters in Rapid City, which will be building the addition. The ground breaking ceremony featured a free lunch that was enjoyed by summer school students, Ashland Public staff and faculty, and local press.   • Gardners Are 4th Of July Parade Grand Marshals

    For this year’s 4th of July parade, the honorary Grand Marshal position will be held by several local community members who have dedicated their time to a worthy cause – The Broadus Cancer Fund. The Grand Marshals will be Dave Gardner and Pat Gardner (posthumously), Tyler Gardner, and Kelli Gardner. All children from the community, pre-kindergarten through sixth grade, are welcome to participate in our Patriotic Themed Art Contest.     By Broadus VFD Fire Chief Raymond Ragsdale Broadus Volunteer Fire Department will be having our 3rd annual BBQ on the 4th of July at the fire station starting at Noon.     Daniel “Dan” Alex Denson, a long-time resident of Powder River County, passed away at Powder River Manor on June 24, 2024 with his loving wife, Barbara at his side. Dan was born on June 29, 1929, in Deadwood, South Dakota to Susie and Akex Denson. He joined his older brother Ross, who was 15 months his senior.
