Earlier this year, Mid-Rivers Communications announced that it had agreed to sell its cellular network assets to Verizon. The sale is now scheduled to close in late July, and Mid-Rivers’ retail cellular operations will officially end on August 1, 2019. All remaining Mid-Rivers cellular customers will need to transition their cellular service to a new provider of their choice prior to August 1. Jess Lockwood, local PBR bull rider, moved to number 3 in the world rankings after going 2 for 2 at the Dakota Community Bank & Trust Touring Pro Division event on Saturday night, at the Bismarck Event Center. Jess picked up 225 world points on 89 and 89.5 point rides in Bismarck. Lockwood’s win in North Dakota comes on the heels of another win on June 8th in Deadwood, SD. The Powder River County Sheriff’s Department will be conducting a test of the courthouse emergency siren on Friday, June 28th, at 2:00 PM. The test will be comprised of a series of different tones. In the case of a real emergency, a specific tone would be played, depending on the nature of the emergency. A “steady, high tone” denotes a weather emergency. Gertrude "Gertie" May Webster was born on May 8, 1924 to parents Rose Worley Webster and Joshua David Webster. Helen (Miller) Pilster passed away on January 30, 2019 at her home in the Belle Estates in Belle Fourche, SD. Mary Helen Miller was born on November 5, 1918 in Wymore, NE to Marshall and Martha Miller. In her early years, Helen became an elementary teacher who started in rural one-room schools in Nebraska with her dear friend and roommate, Esther Jones. Helen married Ed Pilster on July 5, 1941. On the morning of June 15, 2019, Jacklyn "Jackie" Washington passed peacefully in her home surrounded by family. Jackie was born August 31, 1932 in Ekalaka, MT to Glenn "Jack" Talkington and Doris Irene Hubbard. The middle child and only daughter; she had an older brother Fallace and younger brother Larry. As a young girl she attended country school through the eighth grade; then boarded out with the Dean family to start high school in Ekalaka. She later graduated from Lodge Grass in 1950....
