    Thomas Drane played in the Bob Cleverley 8-Man All Star Football Game, on Saturday in Butte. Thomas was a standout player for Broadus over his high school career, and was picked for the All-Star team last year. He was listed at 6'4" and 245 lbs on his program for the Blue Team at the Cleverley game, playing Defensive End, Left Guard, as well as manning the Kickoff Team.     The area saw a cooler, wetter May than normal, with precipitation totals close to double the average for May. The official rain gauge at the Courthouse in Broadus collected 4.22" of precip (both in the form of snow and rain) over the course of May, compared to 2.36" normally. The highest amount, .84" collected on May 18th, came in the form of cold, wet snow. The high temp for Broadus in May came on the 13th through the 16th, with the thermometer topping out at 82.   • FWP issues memo on Crow Tribe hunting outside Reservation

    Montana FWP issued a May 22 memo to game wardens advising them to not cite Crow Tribal members who violate Montana state hunting laws in the Custer Gallatin National Forest east of the Yellowstone River, which includes the Ashland Ranger District. The memo comes as a response to the recent US Supreme Court ruling against Wyoming in the case of a Crow tribal member, Clayvin Herrera, who poached a bull elk on the Bighorn National Forest in Wyoming in 2014.   • Flooding occurs along Powder & Tongue Rivers

    A series of storms which dropped heavy amounts of precipitation in Wyoming were responsible for rising waters along the Powder and Tongue Rivers over the past week. At Moorhead Bridge, upstream from Broadus on the Powder River, the USGS gauge peaked at 10.77 feet, on May 31st. This compared to 13.27 feet during the April flood of 1965, and 15.24 feet during the May flood of 1978. The all-time record was 19.0 feet, in 1923.     The Powder River Historical Museum opened for the 2019 summer season on Monday, June 3rd and will remain open through September 27th. Currently there is a D-Day display in the front window, honoring the Invasion of Normandy, which took place 75 years ago today.
